BETTERCOAL ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW ASSESSMENT AND ASSURANCE LEAD

We are pleased to welcome Anja Gauger as our new ‘Assessment and Assurance Lead’.

Anja has a background in responsible sourcing, supply chain and human rights due diligence and site-based assessments within the energy and mining sectors. She spent four years working as a consultant in business and human rights and was a long-term lead technical support for the responsible sourcing programme at a Top 3 commodity trader/miner. Anja has a degree in Sociology and African Studies and a Masters in ‘Understanding and Securing Human Rights’.

Anja will be filling a key role for the application of our Standard for assessing, assuring, sustaining and continually improving stringent ethical performance across the coal mining supply chain. She will be coordinating site assessment activity, working with Bettercoal Producers on their Continuous Improvement Plans, onboarding new producers into the assessment process, and managing our annual MIRO reporting process. We look forward to working with her towards our goal of a global responsible coal supply chain.
