Maikuben West JSC no longer a Bettercoal Supplier

As of 19 October 2021, Maikuben West JSC ceased to be a Bettercoal Supplier. Following site assessment in 2019, Bettercoal has since been unable to agree a Continuous Improvement Plan with Maikuben and have therefore taken the decision to disassociate from them.

Continuous Improvement Plans are central to Bettercoal’s work. It is through the adoption of these Plans that Bettercoal can work with coal producers to promote continual improvement in their operations and performance in alignment with the 12 principles of the Bettercoal Code.

The Bettercoal Code 2.0 is an internationally recognised Standard for assessing, assuring and sustaining stringent ethical, environmental and social performance in the coal mining supply chain. Being a Bettercoal Supplier is an important way in which coal companies can demonstrate their commitment to these issues to key stakeholders.
